Clinical Syndromes:

  • It causes malaria in animals and humans however it is not as fatal as the other 3.
  • It causes fever that recur an interval of 3 days.
  • clinical symptoms of un untreated primary attack may last 3 weeks to 6 months. Patients might experience chronic low-grade parasitemia leading to recrudescence for 20 or more years.

 

Treatment, Prevention and Control:

Treatment to prevent relapse caused by latent liver forms is not required because these forms do not develop with P.malariae.
